HOME STRETCH Home Buyer Workshops
If you're going to purchase a home using a First Time Buyer Mortgage Program or Down Payment Assistance money, you'll need to attend a HOME STRETCH Home Buyer Workshop before you start looking for a home. It'll be well worth your time and money. You'll learn about managing you finances, mortgages, and how to improve your credit score. You'll also learn about houses - how they're built, how to inspect them for defects, and how to maintain them. And you'll learn about the home-buying process as well - working with a Buyer's Agent, making an offer, negotiating with the seller, and the closing process.
I teach some of the Home Buyer Workshops and I'm a strong believer in their value to First Time Home Buyers. I want you to become a Successful Home Owner and the first step in achieving that goal is good education. Attending a Home Stretch Home Buyer Workshop will provide you with that education.
Home Stretch Home Buyer Workshops are designed by the Minnesota Home Ownership Center (HOC) and are conducted by several non-profit agencies throughout the Twin Cities. To see when and where the workshops are taught, go to the HOC web site. It'll cost you about $40 or $50 (per household) to attend a Home Buyer Workshop.
